An experiment: a tribute to Nick Cave...

that was a long process in which we weren't sure about the product... but, hey, that's what art is all about, right?  Below, an explanation and the process...

A tribute to Nick Cave's architectural Forest
6th grade’s collaborative work.

Students experimented with monoprinting--
creating paper using the gelli plates and acrylic.  They then rolled
the paper into paper beads and put quotes on them based on what
they were studying in their language arts and social studies
curriculum.  They then strung them together and attached them to
dowels, creating a piece that was inspired by Nick Cave, an African
American artist who takes on big themes of belonging and
connection in a brilliant, playful way.

Alpha 6a-- turquoise beads with quotes from artists, poets and
from the cultures/countries they studied

Alpha 6b-- Purple beads with quotes from artists, poets and
writers from the cultures/countries they studied

Winton 6-- Orange beads with quotes about the idea of HOME

Holden 6--White beads with quotes from mythology
